In Russia since 2010, the number of new candidates of sciences has almost tripled, this was noticed by the “Dozhd” TV channel. The mass media refers to data voiced by the rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy.
According to him, if in 2010 the number of candidate theses defended in Russian universities was 33 thousand 700, then last year only 11 thousand 400 of them were recorded, and in general, in recent years the number of new candidates of sciences has been decreasing by 9 percent per hour .
In addition, according to Sadovnychy, the number of graduate students has also decreased: since 2010 – by 30 percent.
In early December, Vladimir Putin announced the lack of funds to expand the program to support young scientists. Speaking at the meeting with them, the President of Russia said that expansion would require money from the federal budget, and finding it in the near future “will be difficult.”
Three days before that, Putin signed the law on the federal budget for the next three years, according to which spending on the army will be increased by almost 70%, and their share of all budget spending, almost 30%, will become a record since the times of the USSR. At the same time, funding for scientific research will be cut in half.
