In Russia, military enlistment offices will send electronic summonses

In Russia, as part of the spring conscription campaign, which begins on April 1, military enlistment offices will for the first time start sending summonses in electronic form. Rear Admiral Vladimir Tsimlyansky, head of the main organizational and mobilization department of the General Staff of Russia, stated this at a briefing. In the absence of a technical possibility, notification will be made by handing out summonses, he added.

According to the representative of the General Staff, on the eve of the call-up, the Ministry of Defense conducted “events for the initial registration of citizens for military registration”, during which a single database was created. More than 700 thousand people between the ages of 18 and 27 were registered.

According to the federal law “On military duty and military service”, Russian citizens subject to military service must receive summonses from the military commissariat against a receipt. Summonses are handed out by employees of the military commissariat or at the citizen’s place of work (study) by leaders, other officials of organizations responsible for military accounting work. Legal consequences of non-compliance by citizens with the requirements stated in them should be specified in the summonses.

At the same time, there is no clause in the law that would allow conscripts for military service by e-mail.

On March 30, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree on spring conscription for military service in the Russian army. According to the document, they plan to send 147 thousand people to the army. This is 12.5 thousand more than last year. The call will be held from April 1 to July 15.
