The Telegram channel “The Way Home”, the authors of which advocate the return of those mobilized from the war in Ukraine, published an appeal to the citizens of Russia to sign the manifesto of the movement of the same name published earlier. The post, written on behalf of relatives of the mobilized, contains an unusually sharp criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

About 15 thousand people subscribed to the Telegram channel. It appeared about two months ago. The publication “7×7” spoke with some of the creators of the channel, it is reported that we are talking about relatives of those mobilized from different regions, who decided to coordinate their efforts in the fight for their return from the front after representatives of the authorities began to say that demobilization would not be completed wars

On November 12, the movement’s manifesto was published in the Telegram channel. It contains a call for full demobilization and the establishment of a deadline for the call for mobilization – 1 hour. There is also a call to respect the Constitution and human rights, but there is no direct call to end the war. Unlike a number of other organizations of relatives of mobilized people, “The Way Home” does not advocate rotation, that is, calling for new mobilized people to replace the current ones, but for demobilization in general.

Activists also submitted applications to hold rallies, including in Moscow, but the authorities refused them. Only in Novosibirsk did the authorities agree to hold the meeting behind closed doors in the building of the local Palace of Culture, independent mass media were not allowed to attend.

The authors of his appeal, published on Monday, call it a “plea for help” to the people of Russia. The authors write that they have almost no hope left: “We are betrayed and exterminated by our own.” At the same time, which is rare for such petitions, President Putin is directly criticized. His promise not to call up reservists for the war, given in February 2022, is called a “dull”, mentions the sunken submarine “Kursk”, and, finally, about former prisoners who are released after six months of service in the army: “The President declared 2024 the year of the family. It is ironic, considering that wives fight without husbands, children grow up without fathers, and many have already become orphans. And the satanic cannibal, who relapsed after the first imprisonment, is released after six months, redeemed the serial murders in the SVO. Still, there is a sense of humor in of our President!” – the message says. In conclusion, all Russians are asked to sign the manifesto.

“Kommersant” previously wrote that vice-governors of Russian regions were instructed to closely monitor the moods of the wives and other relatives of those mobilized. The source of the publication The Insider in one of the regional administrations confirmed that the governors were given the task “at any cost” to stop the external protest. “They persuade, promise, pay. Anything, as long as it doesn’t go out into the street, in any number, even 50 people,” the source said.

The authorities consider possible military protests “a risk factor that they can use before the presidential elections of Russia.”

  • More than a year ago, the Russian authorities announced the so-called partial mobilization for war with Ukraine. According to official data, about 300 thousand people were called up. The decree on mobilization is still in effect.
  • In September, the chairman of the State Duma defense committee, Andrey Kartapolov, said that there would be no rotation of the mobilized, which means that those called up for mobilization will also be required to remain in the zone of hostilities until their end. This caused violent indignation among groups of relatives and friends of the mobilized, who regularly appeal to the authorities to return soldiers from the front.
