The composition of juices in Ukraine will be brought to European standards, in particular, the amount of sugar will be reduced.

About this informs The Ministry of Agrarian Policy based on the results of the meeting of the working group chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotskyi.

Representatives of the public sector and business took part in the meeting.

According to Taras Vysotskyi, the main goal of the changes in the requirements for juices is to harmonize the legislation of Ukraine with the legislation of the European Union. This includes, among other things, the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Association Agreement.

Thus, the EU is initiating the production of juices with reduced natural sugar content. The corresponding directive is being developed by the European Commission.

Therefore, the sugar content in Ukrainian-produced juices will also be reduced. However, only after the adoption of the directive by the European Commission.

At the same time, today it is proposed to approve the requirements for terminology, quality characteristics, marking, labeling of fruit juices so that the consumer receives complete information about the composition and quality of the product.

Such requirements will apply not only to fruit juices, but also to some similar food products.

We remind you:

Before the war EU countries were the main ones buyers of Ukrainian juices.

By 2014, approximately 50% of the export segment was the Russian market.
