Kazakhstan shortened the period of stay in the country of foreigners without a visa

Kazakhstan has tightened the rules for immigrants entering and staying in the country. The government decree, published on Tuesday, changed the permitted periods of stay of foreigners.
In particular, immigrants without a visa will be able to stay in the territory of Kazakhstan for up to 30 days from the day of crossing the border, a total of 90 days during each period of 180 calendar days.
For citizens of member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, which includes Russia, the new rules provide for a stay on the territory of Kazakhstan for 90 days within a 180-day period.
Thus, according to the new rules, it will be impossible to leave Kazakhstan and immediately enter back, that is, to implement the so-called “Visa Run” (crossing the border to renew the terms of legal stay). The new rules will come into effect on January 26, the Kazakh service of Radio Liberty reports.
Kazakhstan became one of the main emigration destinations for Russians after the mobilization for the war in Ukraine announced in September. According to the FSB border service, almost 1.3 million Russian citizens left for Kazakhstan in the third quarter of last year, Mediazona notes. Another such route was, for example, Georgia – due to the visa-free regime and the uncomplicated procedure for obtaining a residence permit.
