The government of Latvia has allocated 5 million euros for the reconstruction of the Chernihiv region after the hostilities in 2023 and plans to allocate the same amount next year.

As “European Truth” writes, Latvian President Edgars Rinkevichs said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Kyiv.

Rinkevichs said that as part of his visit on Friday, he went to the Chernihiv region to see the facilities that are being restored with Latvian funds.

“This year, we spent 5 million euros on the Chernihiv region. These are only government funds, without taking into account the funds invested by private entities. Next year, we plan to allocate at least 5 million euros for the reconstruction of Ukraine,” said the President of Latvia.

He added that further assistance will also be focused on the Chernihiv region, and expressed confidence that the funds will be used properly.

About unannounced Rinkevichs visit it became known to Ukraine already on Friday evening.

She also visited Ukraine on November 24 Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrid Simonite.
