Lithuania has expressed interest in cooperation with Ukraine in the field of research and development of the defense industry.

As “European Truth” writes, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports this.

The issue of cooperation in this field between the countries during his visit to Lithuania was discussed by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yuriy Dzhigyr, who held meetings with the Minister of Defense of Lithuania Arvydas Anushauskas, his deputy Monika Tuchkute, as well as the Chancellor of the Ministry of Defense Kristina Divyatnikovaite.

They note that during the meeting, the Ukrainian official provided information on reforming the defense procurement system of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and fighting corruption in this area, stressing that this issue is fundamentally important for the head of the department, Rustem Umyerov.

At the same time, Anushauskas said that Vilnius appreciates and supports Kyiv’s efforts to implement defense reforms despite the war.

“Lithuania will share knowledge with Ukraine in the field of creating and maintaining a transparent procurement system. We will transfer our experience – where did we start, what legal framework is necessary, how to ensure procurement transparency and prevent corruption,” he said.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielus Landsbergis saidthat without the expansion of the European Peace Fund (EPF), from which arms supplies to Ukraine are compensated, small EU states will experience difficulties.

Before that he expressed concernthat if the Western allies lack the political will to help Ukraine win, Russia will take it as its victory, start preparing for a new war, and any of its neighbors can become a victim of aggression.
