Ilya Kiva, a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was found dead in the Moscow region. The Russian channel REN TV was the first to report this, citing sources.

An interlocutor of the Russian state agency RIA “Novosti” in the emergency services and a source of RBC, close to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that the body was found in the village of Suponevo, in the Odintsovo district. The causes of death are being investigated.

There are no official confirmations of this information yet. The main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Moscow region told RBC that they do not yet have information about the possible death of Kiva.

Sources of “Ukrainskaya Pravda” claim that the Security Service of Ukraine is behind the death of Kyva.

In mid-November, a court in Lviv found Kiva guilty of treason and sentenced him in absentia to 14 years in prison.

Kyva is a former police officer and adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, a participant in the war in eastern Ukraine on the side of Kyiv. He headed the regional department of the “Right Sector” banned in Russia. In 2014, Kyva took part in the presidential elections, gaining 0.03% of the vote. He was elected to the Council from the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party, which the Ukrainian authorities call pro-Russian.

The criminal case against the politician was initiated in early March 2022, immediately after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Before the invasion, the deputy regularly participated in the broadcasts of Russian state television and lived in Spain. After that, he accused the Ukrainian authorities of attempted kidnapping and asked for political asylum in Russia.

Kyiv claimed that Kyiv lives in Russia.
