Mercenaries of PMC “Wagner”, who occupied the headquarters building of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don and the adjacent territory on Saturday night, began to leave the city on the evening of June 24. This was reported by mass media correspondents from the scene of the event.
It is reported that the residents gathered in the center of the city greet the mercenaries with enthusiastic shouts. The T-90 tank, which got stuck in the gates of the local circus on Saturday morning, also left.
The mercenaries began to leave Rostov after their leader Yevgeny Prigozhin announced the end of the so-called “justice march” and were going to field camps. He did not provide details of the agreement, which, according to everything, was concluded with the authorities. Officially, the Russian authorities did not report about it either, the press service of the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko announced its existence.
Telegram channels, citing sources close to the Kremlin, write that the criminal case against Prigozhin on charges of sedition, which was brought against Prigozhin, may be closed.
- On Saturday morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prigozhin’s actions, without naming him by name, an attempt at rebellion and treason and promised to take tough measures to suppress it. During the day, it was reported that detachments of the “Akhmat” regiment were moving to Rostov to disarm PMC fighters. However, apparently, the “Akhmat” regiment never reached Rostov. During the day, no attempts were made to expel the “Wagner” mercenaries from the city center, and the headquarters continued to work.
- Prigozhin previously accused the Ministry of Defense of Russia of intending to destroy PMC “Wagner” and demanded the resignation of the heads of the Russian military department, whom he repeatedly criticized, accusing them of incompetently conducting the war in Ukraine.
