Missiles could be among the weapons supplied to Russia by the DPRK

Missiles were among the ammunition and weapons allegedly supplied to Russia by North Korea. This is confirmed by the “Dossier” center, referring to the ship’s documents of the Russian vessel “Angara”, which, according to investigators, is involved in transportation from the DPRK. In particular, these documents state that 50.69 tons of rockets with an explosive charge were transported in the cargo hold. Strelok Bay in the Primorsky Krai, on the bank of which the Russian military base Danube is located, is indicated as the destination. At the same time, the documents do not mention that the ship visited North Korea.

The United States announced on Friday that North Korea has recently been conducting secret deliveries of ammunition and, possibly, military equipment to Russia. Armament deliveries were expected against the background of the recent visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to Russia and Pyongyang’s support for Russia in the war against Ukraine.

News about deliveries on Monday is confirmed by the British research center RUSI. He studied satellite images and came to the conclusion that the Russian ships “Maria” and “Angara” have been picking up cargo in the North Korean port of Rajin for the past two months and delivering it to the Russian base in the Far East. The investigation is cited by The Washington Post, which is also referenced by the Dossier.

It is reported that vessels are plying between the DPRK and the Russian Danube base, located in the closed territorial formation of Fokino in the Primorsky Krai.

The photographs do not make it possible to determine what exactly the ships were transporting, but analysts assume that they are ammunition supplies. This assumption is based, among other things, on the fact that the final station for cargo coming from the DPRK is Tikhoretsk in the Krasnodar Territory. This station is located relatively close to the theater of hostilities in Ukraine. It is reported that in recent weeks the number of cargoes arriving at this station has increased sharply. We are talking about containers identical to those sent from the DPRK to the Danube base.

Earlier it was reported that arms deliveries from North Korea to Russia are also carried out by rail. On Friday, October 13, White House National Security Adviser John Kirby called reports of arms deliveries from North Korea alarming. He expressed concern about the expansion of military relations between Moscow and Pyongyang. The White House referred to satellite data that indicate a sharp increase in rail traffic along the border between North Korea and Russia. According to the US Center for Strategic and International Studies, as of October 5, satellite images recorded an unprecedented level of movement of freight cars at the Tumangan border station.

The American intelligence community suspects that Kim Jong-un wants to receive sophisticated Russian weapons technology in exchange for ammunition to develop his nuclear program.

Moscow has not yet commented on reports of deliveries from the DPRK.
