More than a hundred trucks are stuck on the border of Moldova and Romania, where farmers are protesting

Over a hundred large trucks and over a hundred passengers were stuck at one of the checkpoints between Moldova and Romania due to the protest of farmers who blocked traffic.

This is reported by Newsmaker, writes “European Truth”.

In the late evening of February 12, 136 large trucks, five buses and four minibuses were standing in line at the Leuchen-Albitza checkpoint. Another 230 passenger cars were directed by the police to other checkpoints.

The border police of Moldova called on the blockers to stop protesting in this form and to respect the rights of other citizens.

We will remind, in the afternoon of February 12, the association “Power of Farmers” announced a series of protests throughout the country with roadblocks, including at the “Leusheni” checkpoint.

The protesters demand the government to respond to their problems and want, among other things, 400 million lei in compensation for medium and small farmers, who, according to them, have been the most affected by various challenges in the last two years.

As you know, farmers’ protests have been taking place in many European countries in recent weeks. For the most part, farmers complain about the new “green” rules of the EU, which increase the cost of production for them, and the inability to compete with cheaper products from third countries. They also demand the preservation or introduction of tax benefits.

Earlier in January, Romanian farmers and transporters blocked the checkpoint on the border with Moldovaand with Ukraine.
