The Naftogaz group has signed memorandums with two Japanese companies regarding the modernization of the thermal power plant and the development of a joint project in the field of wind energy.

This was reported by the Naftogaz press service.

Naftogaz signed the relevant memorandum during the Conference on Economic Development and Reconstruction in Tokyo.

“The Japanese corporation Sumitomo Corporation (SC) will help conduct a technical and economic feasibility study for the modernization of heat supply systems in Ukraine with the support of the Japanese government. The SC will also contribute to the attraction of financing from Japanese public financial institutions,” the message reads.

According to the head of Naftogaz Group Oleksiy Chernyshov. CHPPs in Ukraine, and especially those transferred to Naftogaz, were built a long time ago and have an extremely outdated material base.

In addition, the installation of wind turbines with a capacity of 1 MW is provided for in the second memorandum that “Naftogaz” signed with the Japanese company Komaihaltec.

The turbines must be installed at one of the Group’s facilities.

We will remind:

In 2023, Ukrainian specialists by 20% improved the results of gas production from “repaired” wells compared to pre-war 2021. This is a record figure for the last 4 years.

In January 2024, Naftogaz Group paid UAH 6.1 billion in taxes – UAH 5.6 billion was directed to the state budget, and another UAH 500 million was directed to local budgets.
