“No one came to Putin’s defense”

Opposition politician Alexey Navalny, who is serving a sentence in a colony in the Vladimir region, commented on the mutiny of the head of PMC “Wagner” Evgeny Prigozhin.

According to the politician, he found out about what happened during a court session on a new criminal case – the radio in his cell has been turned off since June 1, and the other prisoner is forbidden to communicate with him.

“Therefore, when in the “courtroom” the lawyers asked me: “Well, how did martial law go for you?” – I thought that it was some new joke or an Internet meme that had not yet reached me.

And when a minute later I was told about the seizure of Rostov, downed helicopters and a military convoy moving to Moscow to “kill Shoigu’s creature” and the masked court officers also listened and nodded their heads, I kept waiting for someone to shout: “This is a program” Draw!”. But no one shouted,” wrote Navalny.

According to the politician, there is no greater threat to Russia than Putin’s regime.

“It wasn’t the West or the opposition that shot down Russian helicopters over Russia. It wasn’t FBK that put Russia on the brink of civil war (and it’s not the fact that we left there). This was done by Putin personally. I remind you that he PERSONALLY pardoned all these convicts who were traveling killing Shoigu and who else they wanted to kill,” the politician said.

Navalny believes that Putin’s regime is so dangerous for the country that even its inevitable collapse will create a threat of civil war, as Putin’s supporters are ready to “start a war of all against all at any time.”

“At the moment when military columns were naturally going to Moscow to capture it, no one stood up to defend Putin, no unity of the nation took place around him. We do not (yet) know exactly how popular Prigozhin and his ideas are in the troops, but rather after all, Putin is even less popular there. At least, in the warring parts,” wrote Navalny.

• New charges against Navalny have been brought under seven articles of the Criminal Code. The most difficult of these articles is about the creation of an extremist community. The Russian authorities consider the Anti-Corruption Foundation and Navalny’s headquarters to be such associations. According to this article, a penalty of up to ten years of imprisonment may be threatened. Other articles are calls for extremism, the creation of an NGO that encroaches on the rights of citizens, the financing of extremism, the involvement of minors in committing dangerous acts, and the rehabilitation of Nazism.
