The NATO summit ended in Vilnius on Wednesday. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking at a press conference, said that a course has been taken for his country’s entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but it will become possible only after the end of the war in Ukraine. However, he is satisfied with the fact that the “Group of Seven” countries have signed a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine.

“We received great positives. We really received the unification, and the leaders supported Ukraine. It is clear that Ukraine will be in NATO as soon as the security situation is stabilized. It was very important for me that the declaration specified the security conditions. But we received the conditions , and we are talking about security,” Zelensky said.

“No one will trade Ukraine’s membership in NATO with anyone. I don’t know if everyone is being honest with me to the end and if everything is true, but we believe in the partners who are helping us today to win this war,” he emphasized.

One of the issues that Zelensky discussed with the heads of NATO countries in Vilnius was his demand to transfer long-range weapons to Ukraine, in particular, ATACMS missile systems. No positive decision was made on this issue. The Ukrainian president said that he would continue negotiations in this area.

He also expressed confidence that Ukraine will win the war even before the next NATO summit, which will be held in June 2024 in Washington.
