In Lviv tennis courts were opened in the “LEOLAND” sports and entertainment center. Its creators managed to combine active recreation and professional activities in various sports under one roof.

Oleksandr Svishchev, a Ukrainian businessman and president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine, became the main investor and driving force behind the construction of the “LEOLAND” SRC.

Oleksandr Svishchev toldhow the idea of creating a unique and one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment complex arose. This is how they decided to build a modern SRC on the basis of the “Ukraine” sports complex, where six tennis courts with a ground cover of an open format and two courts under a cover used to work. But the infrastructure of the sports complex was already quite outdated, and did not make it possible to hold international competitions or championships of Ukraine. Therefore, it was decided to build modern tennis courts where you can play tennis all year round. Investors led by Oleksandr Svishchev implemented this idea for almost five years. The concept of the future SRC was discussed with the team and tennis community of Lviv.

“LEOLAND” complex has been open to visitors for a year. In addition to tennis, the sports and entertainment complex offers its visitors various types of activities so that every child or adult can find “their” sport and improve their skills. For the youngest, the complex offers preschool education lessons: chemistry and physics, and children can also try their hand at dancing, tennis or football.

The war in Ukraine acts as a factor that reduces investment attractiveness for both international and Ukrainian companies. But despite the rather difficult times for Ukraine, the opening of the “LEOLAND” complex took place. Investor and ideological inspirer Oleksandr Svishchev told what made him take this risky step.

“The war created great uncertainty in the life of every Ukrainian, where to move and how to live on. But our Armed Forces stood up to protect the state and keep us hopeful that everything will be fine, that there will be victory over the enemy. Therefore, I made a decision for myself to open a complex in such a difficult time. This is also a kind of signal from the business that we live, develop sports and invest in our children, who are the future of this country. I was convinced that “LEOLAND” will be a place where children’s laughter will be heard, in which children and parents will be able to switch from the difficult realities of the war for a certain time,” Svishchev said.

The investor added that for security there is a shelter in the SRC, where in the event of an air raid, the children are in a safe place

Tennis is played all over the world, it is also quite popular in Ukraine. And with the opening of the “LEOLAND” SRC, major tennis tournaments returned to Lviv, now they are held every month. The sports complex has already hosted Ukrainian championships among children and adults, which have not been held in Lviv for more than ten years. The appearance of the new complex made it possible to play tennis and hold tournaments all year round.

Oleksandr Svishchev reported, that today in “LEOLAND” tennis competitions of various age categories are held. During the year of operation of the tennis courts in “LEOLAND”, many competitions took place. In December 2022, it was possible to hold the championships of Ukraine among youth and adults.

The head of the Lviv division of the Tennis Federation of Ukraine – Nataliya Bodnia noted that Lviv, to some extent, is becoming the sports capital of tennis: “We are gaining momentum in competitions and most importantly, we see that there is a great interest among children to play tennis.”
