One more person was arrested in the case of the Kremlin Laundry channel

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow has arrested one more person involved in the case of the Kremlin Laundry channel. According to the investigation, translator Denys Savinsky was also the channel’s administrator. He is accused of large-scale extortion. In court, Savinsky declared his innocence. The defense asked to choose a measure of restraint for him in the form of house arrest.

Former FSB colonel Mikhail Polyakov and businessman Alexander Sanin, involved in the administration of the Telegram channel, were arrested earlier in the same case. They are accused of extorting 40 million rubles from the management of the IT holding “Lanit” for removing already existing negative publications about the company and refusing to post such publications in the future. Publications appeared in the Telegram channels “Nezygar” and “Kompromat-GRUPP” several years ago.

As RBC reports, “Kremlevskaya Prachka” along with dozens of other telegram channels was mentioned in February by the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, Alexander Khinshtein, who stated that “the security forces may soon come after their authors and administrators.” According to the deputy, “TG blackmailers” created and distributed “compromise fakes”, and then offered wealthy businessmen and media persons to pay a “block on the negative”, providing for the absence of publications defaming their reputation.

• At the end of last year, several criminal cases were opened in Russia about extortion from Rostec employees. In May, a court in Moscow sentenced three former administrators of Riddle and “Project SCANNER” telegram channels to eight years in prison each.
• In the case of extortion from the top managers of Rostec, there are three more accused – the former commercial director of Ksenia Sobchak Kirill Sukhanov, the former editor-in-chief of Tatler Arian Romanovsky and the Life journalist Tamerlan Bigaev. The court closed the process from the audience and the press.
• Alexandra Bayazitova, a former journalist of Kommersant and Izvesty, is in pretrial detention in connection with the case of extortion at Promsvyazbank.
