Sergey Butry, a well-known pediatrician and author of the popular blog “Notes of a Pediatrician” emigrated from Russia. This happened after a protocol was drawn up on him in February under the article about “inciting hatred”, and he spent 10 days under arrest.

Butryi announced his departure in a telegram. He stated that while serving his arrest in a special detention center, he was “unequivocally hinted that this would not be the end of everything. Therefore, immediately after the release, I flew out of the country with my wife and son with a minimum of belongings,” the doctor wrote. He clarified that he will continue to run his blog and consult patients remotely.

The case of “inciting hatred” against Butrii was initiated because of his interview with journalist Kateryna Gordeeva in March of last year. In it, Butry talked about the detrimental effect of Russia’s war in Ukraine on Russian society and the state of medicine in the country. According to the expert examination, which formed the basis of the accusation, in an interview the pediatrician spoke “against doctors who share the values ​​of Russian society.”
