Philosopher and publicist Alexander Rubtsov died at the age of 72, reports the website of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He headed the Center for the Study of Ideological Processes at the institute.
Rubtsov is a member of the Committee of Civil Initiatives, created for the development of democratic institutions in Russia, co-founder of the Free Historical Society, created as an alternative state-owned association of historians. He was actively published in the independent Russian press.
His scientific interests included liberal tendencies in post-Soviet Russia, the philosophy of freedom, the theory and analysis of ideological processes, project consciousness in a postmodern situation, the development and implementation of development strategies, innovative processes and reindustrialization, and institutional transformations.
The philosopher was the author of several books, in the 1990s he consulted the Russian government and coordinated a group of consultants of the Presidential Administration, in 2001-2007 he was one of the leaders of the economic working group of the administration. He was a regular guest of Radio Svoboda broadcasts.
