The ministers of agriculture of Ukraine and France recently met in Kyiv with representatives of French companies that have been actively working and supporting the agricultural market of Ukraine since the first days of the war.

It will be recalled that the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of the French Republic visited Ukraine and held working meetings with colleagues from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The main goals of the delegation’s visit were to strengthen agricultural cooperation between France and Ukraine, discuss projects to rebuild the agricultural sector, and bring Ukrainian legislation closer to EU norms and practices within the framework of joint work for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

As a result, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of the French Republic signed Declaration of intent.

“It is very important for us that the representative of the Lidea company is part of the French delegation, because the domestic agricultural market is already partially integrated into the European one, but we are only at the beginning of this journey.

As you know, the EU has granted permission to export corn, and companies such as Lidea, which have the ability to produce seeds both for the local market and for export, are already actively working in this direction. Another important step is the export of oil crops, and it was to discuss this issue that Lidea President Pierre Pajes met with the Ministers of Agriculture of France and Ukraine,” says Serhiy But, Deputy General Director of Lidea Ukraine LLC.

As part of the visit of the French delegation, a meeting was held with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of the French Republic Mark Fesno with representatives of French companies that work and support the agricultural market of Ukraine.

The French delegation also included a representative of the headquarters of the French Lidea Group – Lidea President Pierre Pages, who, in particular, held a working meeting with the Lidea team in Ukraine.

“Today, at the group level, business in Ukraine is one of the priorities, despite military actions, which we categorically condemn and oppose any form of violence and aggression, we are still ready to invest in the team, acreage and local production.

In this way, we help to strengthen the economy and ensure food independence of both Ukraine and each individual farmer.

This year’s production plan has almost doubled compared to 2022, reaching 4,600 hectares of sunflower, maize and soybean seeds, and by 2026 we plan to reach 7,000 hectares,” said Pierre Pajes.

This season, Lidea managed to increase the volume of sunflower production in Ukraine, which in turn ensures the early availability of seeds, minimizes logistical risks, because the entire finishing cycle will take place at the factory in Ukraine, so the Ukrainian farmer can at least not worry about this.

One of the key topics for discussion during the visit of Lidea President Pierre Pajes to the Ukrainian office of the Lidea Group was the support of insurance programs during lending to partners, which was launched in 2022. and plan to continue in the future.

As previously reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, France introduced a bilateral mechanism for insurance of investments in Ukraine. In particular, the French state insurance company Bpifrance Assurance Export will insure French companies that are ready to invest in Ukraine and take an active part in the reconstruction of the country, without waiting for the end of the war. messages.

Under the terms of the insurance, any company operating under French law and making a long-term investment abroad in a new or existing company, or any credit institution providing a bank loan to a foreign unit, is eligible for this investment insurance.

It protects investors or lending institutions from the risks of property damage or non-payment, non-transfer, expropriation or political violence. The insurance covers up to 95% of the loss of the investor’s assets or receivables.

Negotiations are also ongoing with the headquarters of the Lidea Group regarding charitable assistance within the framework of the “Together to the Seed” program, which is implemented on its own, without the involvement of donors or other charitable organizations.

The company intends to supply the territory and domestic farms with seed material in the next sowing season. Work continues on the formation of a package of specific cultures and their volumes.

In the meantime, as part of the internal program “Together to sowing”, aimed at supporting farmers affected by hostilities, the Ukrainian office of Lidea, with the support of European colleagues, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the military administrations of the regions, until the autumn sowing provided 10 tons of elite soft wheat for the amount of UAH 400,856 to the farmers of the Kherson Region. with VAT

Thanks to the support of Lidea, 10 farms will be able to sow 50 hectares of demined fields, and already in the spring season of 2024 have 250 tons of their own winter wheat seeds of the 1st reproduction for sowing.

Earlier, in the 2023 spring sowing season, the company’s team sent 1,091 p.o. sunflowers for sowing by farms for UAH 5.9 million. And in the spring sowing of 2022, more than 6,000 seeds worth about UAH 19 million were received by farms in the North-Eastern region of Ukraine.

“Let’s go together to victory!” – say the people of Lydeiv and work every day to ensure that Ukrainian farmers continue to work successfully and maintain leading positions in the world agricultural market.
