The Supreme Court of Russia declared the dimensions of hand luggage set by the Russian low-cost airline “Pobeda” to be illegal. This follows from the court ruling.
According to the document, the rules of the low-cost carrier “reduce the established norm of free carriage of hand luggage and limit the passenger’s right to carry baggage without charging an additional fee.”
Now it is allowed to take things with you on the “Pobedy” plane, the dimensions of which in total do not exceed 36x30x27 centimeters, as well as a laptop, a bouquet of flowers and an umbrella-cane. Alternative rules also limit the size of hand luggage. The airline explained the imposed restrictions on the safety of flights: allegedly it is “unsafe” to carry items over the specified dimensions on the shelves.
According to the federal rules for carrying luggage on an airplane, a passenger can carry items weighing no less than five kilograms into the cabin free of charge, as well as a number of other items above this limit.
