Poet Vera Polozkova is asked to be tested for terrorist propaganda

The chairperson of the State Duma Committee on Culture, Elena Yampolskaya, appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to check the poetess Vera Polozkova for justification and propaganda of terrorism. The deputy published a copy of the statement in the Telegram channel.

The reason for the appeal was Polozkova’s statement about the attempt on the writer Zakhar Prilepin in an interview that aired on the TV channel “Dozhd” on June 19. In it, journalist Mikhail Kozyrev asked Polozkova whether she drank champagne, as she promised in one of the posts in 2017, and learned that Prilepin’s car had been blown up. Polozkova answered this with the words “beer at most”, and then added that she does not feel gloating about the attempt, does not wish anyone dead and called what happened a horror.

In an appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Yampolskaya called Polozkova’s comments “absolutely unacceptable and immoral” and containing, as the deputy claims, signs of justifying a terrorist act. She asked to evaluate Polozkova’s statements “for the presence of elements of a criminal offense.”

Earlier, the Safe Internet League promised to check Polozkova’s statements in an interview with Yury Dudy on an article about the discrediting of the army. Dud asked Polozkova about the Alley of Angels in Donetsk, a monument with the names of children who died during the war. She replied that there would have been no war if Donetsk had not been “invaded with half-crazy people and bandits.”

The poetess condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In March, shortly after the start of the war, she left Russia. “In my country, there is no more politics, no journalism, not a single working legal institute. The people who make decisions for my people are in power illegally: there have been no fair elections for ten years. Therefore, their only weapon is lies. Lies and incitement of terror,” she wrote.
