In Poland, the construction of an electronic barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad region has begun. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Mariusz Kamynskyi.
“This will be a very modern barrier, the same as on the border with Belarus: many day and night cameras, motion sensors. We will have full monitoring of everything that happens on the border with Russia,” the minister said.
In total, three thousand cameras will be installed on the Polish-Russian border, which is 199 kilometers long. Construction is planned to be completed by September 30. The cost of the work was estimated at 373 million zlotys (almost 81 million euros).
- Earlier, the Polish military built a barrier made of three rows of barbed wire on the border with Russia, and also installed anti-tank hedgehogs.
- Last October, Poland completed the construction of a wall on the border with Belarus, which cost approximately 1.6 billion zlotys (about 330 million euros). The decision to build the barrier was made due to the sharply increased flow of migrants who tried to enter the EU illegally through Belarus.
