On the morning of Thursday, May 4, the Polish side suspended the registration of trucks both for exit from Ukraine and for entry. Polish border guards allow only humanitarian aid, dangerous goods and animals to enter Ukraine.
The checkpoint “Yagodin – Dorohusk” ensures about 40% of the cargo flow to Poland, the ministry notes and notes that blocking the border entails a critical situation for exports.
Strike
The reason is the strike of Polish carriers in front of the Dorogusk checkpoint. In particular, the protestors demand the return of permits for international road freight transport for Ukrainian carriers at the entrance to Poland. Such permits were canceled as part of the “transport visa-free” program between Ukraine and the EU last summer.
The demands of the protesters also refer to the application of the Euro4 environmental standard to Ukrainian carriers, which is applied in Ukraine to Polish carriers.
According to preliminary information, the strike has been agreed with the law enforcement agencies of Poland until 24:00 on June 3, 2023.
It is noted that the Ministry of Reconstruction has already turned to Polish colleagues with a request to regulate the situation.
“We consider today’s strike artificial and contrary to common European aspirations and values. We call on our colleagues, Polish officials, to take appropriate measures to solve the current problem and explain to the protestors the ways to overcome the misunderstanding,” said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Alexander Kubrakov.

He noted that this is not the first case of blocking Ukrainian exports to or transiting through Poland.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note to Polish colleagues in connection with the protest action of Polish carriers.
According to Ukrtransbezopasnosti, as of May 5, there were 2,782 cars in the general queue at the checkpoint, and 454 in the queue for veterinary control.
