Prisoners who raped a cellmate were sentenced to 5-7 years

The court in Irkutsk sentenced six prisoners of the Irkutsk Colony No. 6 to new terms for the brutal beating and rape with a mop of the second prisoner Tahirzhon Bakiev, who later died in the colony. The court sentenced Ot to 5 to 7 years in the colony on April 10, the human rights channel “Zapravka 38” reports.

Artyom Pavlov, who raped Bakiev with a mop, was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Yevgeny Lukashenko also received 7 years in prison. Vladimir Dudin, Denis Ryazantsev, and Vladimir Glukhy were sentenced to 6 years in prison. Yuriy Tsevuna, who brought the mop, was sentenced to 5 years.

In 2022, three employees of IK-6 who watched the torture of Bakiev by other prisoners were sentenced to life terms, “7×7” writes. The former head of the IK-6 Alexei Agapov, the deputy head of the operational department Alexei Mednikov and the operational commissioner Anton Erokhin were sentenced to 5 years in a general regime colony.

In 2021, Tahirzhon Bakiev, a prisoner of IK-6, was brutally interrogated by inmates on the orders of the colony workers. They beat Bakiev and raped him with a mop, causing serious damage to his health. Bakiev was recognized as disabled, but they refused to release him from the colony early, he was supposed to be released in 2024. Bakiev was found dead in February. The official version of ego death is suicide. This is confirmed by human rights activists who were in contact with Bakiev.

The “Zapravka 38” Telegram channel published a photocopy of the last letter that Bakiev sent from the pre-trial detention center. In it, he asks to draw attention to the torture that was applied to him. The letter ends with the words: “Help me, please, I can’t do it myself anymore. I don’t want to die here with the wording that I’m alone.”

The court refused to demand compensation from the prisoners who mocked Bakiev due to his death.
