Russian publicist Alexander Arkhangelsky was not allowed to enter Georgia on the evening of April 18. He himself announced this on Facebook.
According to Arkhangelskyi, he was “questioned in detail about Abkhazia, was there, wasn’t there, what he said, what he didn’t say.” After that, the publicist was told that he would not be allowed into the territory of Georgia and deported on the same plane. The reasons for this decision were not explained to him.
Blogger Nikolay Levshits discovered an article by Arkhangelsky with statements about the Georgian autonomies of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, written a few months before Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008. According to Levshits, these statements of the publicist could be the reason for the refusal to enter Georgia.
Arkhangelsky flew to Tbilisi for the screening of the documentary film “Hunger”, which he co-authored. According to him, the “meetings” will take place: he will take part in them remotely.
Earlier this week, Arkhangelsky resigned from the Higher School of Economics at the initiative of the management.
