Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the conscription of Russians between the ages of 18 and 30. Previously, the maximum age for conscription was 27 years.

The signed document will enter into force on January 1, 2024. Those who will be 27 years old by the end of 2023 will not be subject to the new law.

In addition, the president signed a law introducing a ban on travel abroad for citizens from the day the summons was served on them, including at the place of work or study.

In April, the State Duma approved the law on the creation of a unified register of conscripts, which equates electronic summonses with paper summonses. The Ministry of Statistics predicts that the register will not be launched before autumn.

Another document signed by Putin concerns the Russian Guard. It will be able to be armed with heavy military equipment, and state procurement for conducting hostilities against Ukraine will be conducted according to a simplified procedure. The Ministry of Defense will be able to conclude contracts in any form when purchasing from a single supplier.
