The main restoration works of the emergency section of the blue line of the Kyiv metro between the “Lybidska” and “Demiivska” stations will begin no earlier than March 2024.

According to him, the city government has already agreed to carry out project and priority restoration and preparatory works. Currently, work is underway on the arrangement of the unloading slab for further work on it by the drilling rig and drilling of piles.
The project documentation itself will be submitted for examination by February 12. The examination will last 3-4 weeks. As a result, the cost will be finally determined and the deadlines for the works will be specified. Immediately after the approval of the project, the main restoration construction works will begin.
Klitschko noted that this section of the tunnel passes through extremely difficult hydrogeological conditions: the soils are very saturated with water, with a layer of peat, fine and medium sand.
“We have already received the preliminary conclusions of the experts of the Scientific Research Forensic Expert Institution regarding the cause of the deformation of the tunnel on the “blue” branch of the metro between the “Demiivska” and “Lybidska” stations. The experts speak of erroneous design decisions and poor-quality construction and installation work for the construction of the tunnel structure of this section. The expert study is still ongoing. The final conclusions will be given after the development of the pit and the inspection and examination of the tunnel from the outside,” Klitschko said.
