Republican Nikki Haley announced the end of her presidential campaign after losing the primaries on Super Tuesday. Hale was the only competitor of former US President Donald Trump in the fight for the nomination from the Republican Party.
According to the Associated Press, Haley wanted Trump to win the support of moderate Republicans and non-partisan voters who would be ready to vote for her. “Politics is about attracting people to your side, not pushing them away. And our conservative party needs more supporters,” she said.
In “Super Tuesday” on March 5, 16 states and one dependent territory held primary intra-party elections, during which the Democratic and Republican parties determine which of their candidates will be nominated for the post of president. In 12 out of 15 states that voted for the Republican candidate, Donald Trump won by a large margin. Hayla’s rival won only one state – Vermont.
Current US President Joe Biden, who is running for a second term, won a convincing victory in all states.
