Rosaviatsia considered the reason for the landing of the passenger plane in the field to be an error by the pilots
Rosaviatsiya completed the investigation of the aviation accident involving the Ural Airlines passenger plane in September 2023. Then the Airbus A320 airliner with running out of fuel landed in a field in the Novosibirsk region after it was unable to land at the Omka airport. The cause of the accident was called pilot error by the commission.
The document “Rosaviatsii” was not officially published, aviation bloggers posted it on social networks. Such reports after compilation are sent to the authorities, the owner of the aircraft and the Interstate Aviation Committee. The text was compiled on October 31, 2023, according to the document.
It says that the crew of “Ural Airlines” could not correctly calculate the remaining fuel after the unsuccessful landing in Omsk. The plane should have been landed in Omsk, and not sent to the reserve airport in Novosibirsk, as the crew did, the text says.
It is noted that even after the fuel ran out, the crew made the only correct decision by landing the plane on the chosen site. After landing, there were 184 kilograms of fuel left in the tank, which would have been enough for several minutes of engine operation, the Radio Svoboda correspondent calculated. There were 165 people on board.
The commission’s conclusions correspond to the assumptions made by many aviation experts immediately after the accident. “Ural Airlines” called the failure of the plane’s hydraulic system the cause of the accident.
