Roskomnadzor blocked the track with Evgenia Berkovich’s performance in court

The Russian authorities have blocked a track written on the basis of a performance by theater director Yevgenia Berkovich in court on the Yandex.Muzyka platform. When trying to open a record, the message “The track is unavailable at the request of Roskomnadzor” appears. It still opens on other services.

The track is an artistic composition called “In court 09.01.2024”. Actress Chulpan Khamatova, poet Naum Blyk, musicians Vlady, Ligalayz, Krec and journalist Kateryna Gordeeva took part in the ego recording. The text of the composition is Berkovych’s appeal to the court, with which she appeared on January 9, when she and the playwright Svetlana Petriychuk were detained for another two months in the case of justifying terrorism.

Berkovych addressed the judges in verse, saying that she had already exhausted the possibilities of telling about her innocence in prose. The actors and musicians who took part in the recording of the track presented Berkovich’s performance as a separate work of art.

• Theater director Evgenia Berkovich and playwright Svetlana Petriychuk have been in pretrial detention since May 2023. Law enforcement agencies accuse them of an article about the “justification of terrorism” for the play “Finist Yasnyi Sokol” about Russian women who left for Syria to become the wives of fighters of the terrorist organization “Islamskoe gosudarstvo”. The play was written by Petriychuk and staged by Berkovych with the theater project “Daughters of SOSO” in 2020. The performance was awarded the most prestigious Russian theater award “Golden Mask” in two nominations – for the best direction and the best work of the costume designer.
