Since the beginning of 2024, more than 510 million records of personal data of Russians have been leaked online. This was reported by Roskomnadzor deputy head Mylos Wagner.
“Of them, 500 million is one leak,” Wagner clarified, adding that it is now being investigated.
According to Roskomnadzor, for the whole of 2023, about 300 million records about Russians got into the network, then the agency recorded 168 leaks. At the same time, according to the calculations of the Russian company InfoWatch, only in the first half of 2023, 705 million records of personal data of Russians were stolen.
According to the InfoWatch report, in 2022, 667 million records about Russians were leaked to the network (Roskomnadzor says about 600 million). At that time, experts directly linked the increase in the number of escapes with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Russia, leaks of large databases regularly occur, and state websites are subjected to DDoS attacks.
As a result of the leaks, the names, dates of birth, telephone numbers, e-mails, addresses, passport data, order details, hash passwords of Russians and other sensitive information of Russians are publicly available.
Yesterday, February 22, it became known that Russian carriers will hand over confidential passenger data to the authorities, including their IP address and account passwords.
