Russia conducted a massive nuclear strike training, the corresponding video was published by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

The head of the department, Sergei Shoigu, emphasized that the training of the strategic nuclear forces took place under the personal supervision of President Vladimir Putin.

According to official reports, the Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region at the Kura test site in Kamchatka, while the Sineva ballistic missile was launched from the Barents Sea from the Tula nuclear submarine. Also, according to the head of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov, two long-range missile carriers TU-95MS participated in the training of the strategic nuclear forces.

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, reporting to President Putin, said that the exercises were held “in accordance with the plan of preparation of the Russian Armed Forces for a massive nuclear strike in response to an enemy nuclear strike.”

On Wednesday, the Federation Council approved a draft law, previously adopted by the State Duma, on revoking the ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Vladimir Putin made this initiative in early October.

Earlier, Russia suspended participation in the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty, which was signed with the United States in 2010.
