Russia took second place in the world in the outflow of dollar millionaires

In 2022, 8.5 thousand dollar millionaires left Russia, according to the report of the British consulting company Henley & Partners on the migration of wealthy citizens in the world.

This is almost two times less than the company predicted – it was expected that 15 thousand dollar millionaires would leave Russia in 2022, that is, 15% of their total number by the end of 2021. Despite this, Russia was second only to China in this indicator.

“The decrease in the forecasted figures was influenced by both sanction measures (for example, the closure of many investment citizenship and residency programs for Russians, the closure of foreign bank accounts), and the country’s mechanisms that complicated the migration of notable wealthy people,” the company explained to the Kommersant newspaper.

The first place in the number of millionaires who left the country was taken by China, from which 10.8 thousand dollar millionaires left. Third place was taken by India, which left 7.5 thousand millionaires.

Australia, UAE and Singapore became the leaders in attracting wealthy people.
