Scythian gold worth 60 million euros is returned to Ukraine: law enforcement officers found out how the valuables were taken

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies conducted an international special operation with the police of the Kingdom of Spain, as a result of which cultural values of Ukraine were seized, namely Scythian gold worth 60 million euros.

During the operation, two citizens of Ukraine and three citizens of Spain were detained.
The law enforcement officers found that those detained in the period 2014-2020, hiding from customs control, illegally exported a significant amount of “Scythian Gold” items from Ukraine.
A gold medallion, gold earrings, pendant, chokers, pectoral, etc. were seized from the mentioned persons. The estimated market value of the products is more than 60 million euros.
“These objects belong to the cultural and material values of the period of the existence of the state of “Little Scythia”, which was located within the modern territory of Ukraine, and, in accordance with internationally recognized borders, are the property of Ukraine,” the BEB emphasized.
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine with the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain conducted a complex of investigative measures against members of an international criminal group.
The law enforcement officers documented the actions of those involved in the case: clergymen of the UOC MP, appraisers, notaries and intermediaries involved in the crime.
Seized property was seized. According to the conclusions of specialists of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, the exported property is the cultural heritage of Ukraine. The issue of returning the mentioned cultural values to Ukraine is being resolved.
The location of another part of cultural values, as well as persons involved in the commission of the crime, is also established.
The special operation was carried out under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General and in cooperation with the Office of the Attaché of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Spain in Ukraine and the International Cooperation Department of the National Police of Spain.
