In Russia, GOST was updated for the first time for security guards of educational organizations. The new project states that they will be required to possess the skills of repelling armed attackers and protecting objects from terrorist attacks. This was reported by “Izvestia” with a link to the document.

“The national standard is updated for the first time. During the development of this project, domestic and foreign experience was used, including that contained in the standards of individual joint security communities,” says the explanation of the project.

The innovations are connected with the war against Ukraine and the annexation of Ukrainian territories. The document explains that the need to “update” the standards for security guards arose “due to new threats”, in particular in the occupied territories.

The development of the new GOST was carried out by a working group of representatives of the “Safe School” Association of Security Enterprises, as well as the Federal Coordination Center of the Leaders of Security Structures. The initiative was supported by Rosstandart.

As Alexander Kozlov, the president of the Federal Coordination Center for the Heads of Security Structures, explained, if the project is accepted, security guards will be trained in actions in the event of an armed attack or other emergency situations.

The initiative was supported by Rosstandarte, which stated that the physical protection of objects is “the main form of preventive action against most threats, primarily of a terrorist nature.”

  • In Russia, in recent years, cases of “shootings” in educational institutions, committed, including, by worshipers of “Columbine”, have become more frequent. So, in September of last year, Artyom Kazantsev, a graduate of this educational institution, opened fire with two pistols in Izhevsk secondary school No. 88, killing fifteen people. The media reported that homemade keychains with the words Columbine, Eric, and Dylan were attached to the weapon. An hour before that, 18-year-old Timur Bekmansurov opened fire on the campus of the Perm State Research University. Six people died. In May 2021, 19-year-old Ilnaz Galyaviev set off an explosion and opened fire in gymnasium No. 175 in Kazan, killing nine people.
