The price of buying and selling agricultural land in Ukraine in January-April 2023 increased by an average of 20%. Since the beginning of the year, 13,000 such transactions have taken place. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy for Digitization Denys Bashlyk during a press conference, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

How prices have changed

“Even if the inflation factor is eliminated, we see that growth (prices, — ed.) continues. But in the regions that are close to hostilities, there is no such growth,” he clarified. The deputy minister added that in the Lviv region at the beginning of May of this year, the average value of 1 ha of agricultural land was 162,000. hryvnias, while at the time of market opening it amounted to UAH 51,000. In the Kyiv region, according to him, during this time the price increased from 48,000 UAH up to 148 thousand UAH per ha. At the same time, one hectare of land in Chernihiv Oblast costs 23,000 on average. UAH, whereas before the war it cost 16-17 thousand UAH. UAH, Bashlyk added, admitted that the price rise is related to inflation. “In 2021, 66,000 contracts were concluded in Ukraine. land purchase and sale transactions for a total area of ​​153,000 Ha. In 2022, there were 53,000 such transactions, while the market actually did not work for almost half a year due to restrictions on access to registers,” said the deputy minister.

CEO of “ProZorro.Sales” Sergey But reported that since the launch of electronic land auctions in October 2021, auctions for the purchase and lease of agricultural land for more than UAH 1.2 billion have already been completed in the “ProZorro.Sales” system.

The land market in Ukraine officially started on July 1, 2021. Until 2024, only natural persons-citizens of Ukraine can buy agricultural land with a limit of 100 hectares. The Law on the Land Market prohibits foreigners from buying land.
