Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin declared Monday, June 26, a non-working day in the Russian capital. He called the reason for this “minimization of risks” in the conditions of the counter-terrorist operation regime announced in the city. “The situation is complicated,” Sobyanin wrote on the Telegram channel. He did not mention the armed rebellion of PMC “Wagner”, whose detachments, according to numerous reports, are moving towards Moscow.
Sobyanin also appealed to “abstain as much as possible from trips around the city.”
The regime of the counter-terrorist operation provides for a number of restrictions, including the possibility of blocking streets and inspecting vehicles.
Photos and videos of law enforcement officials who organize roadblocks at the entrances to Moscow, in particular in the Yasenevo district, where armored vehicles are present, appeared on Telegram channels earlier.
According to the latest unconfirmed reports, columns of mercenaries of PMC “Wagner” may now be in the Tula region, approximately 200 km from Moscow. It was reported that the bridge over the Oka River on the road leading from the south to Moscow was closed.
