The Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow arrested three residents of the city on suspicion of setting fire to an electric train and a relay cabinet standing at the depot, reports “Ostorozhno, Novosti”. They face long terms on charges of a particularly serious crime.

18-year-old Yaroslav Kulygin, 17-year-old Nikita A. and 16-year-old Yevgeny N. were arrested on suspicion of arson. According to the information on the court’s website, the minor defendants are charged with sabotage committed by a group of persons with a preliminary agreement. Kuligin is suspected of sabotage, which caused significant property damage. Punishment under Part 2 of Article 281 provides for imprisonment for a term of 6 to 20 years for minors and 12 to 20 years for Kulygin.

The fire in the electric train occurred on the night of October 21 in the Moscow depot of Domodedovo. “Baza” writes that as a result of the arson, the main carriage caught fire. The fire was noticed by the typist on duty. The wagon was towed away and extinguished, during the fire the driver’s cabin and part of the vestibule burned down. A month later, the suspects allegedly set fire to the relay box on the Domodedovo-Belye Stolby race.

“Mesh” publication, without reference to the source, claims that during interrogation, the suspects stated that they committed arson “at the behest of the Security Service of Ukraine” for a monetary reward.

According to “Mediazona”, by October 2023, almost one and a half hundred Russians have already become suspects or accused in cases of sabotage on railways. 39 of them were minors at the time of their arrest, and another 55 people aged between 18 and 25 were under investigation. Many of the defendants are said to have been recruited by the Ukrainian special services. They don’t comment on it in Kyiv.
