The author of the Telegram channel “Protestny MSU” Dmitry Ivanov, who is accused in the case of fakes about the Russian army, was beaten by an escort after the session of the Tymyryazevsky Court in Moscow. This was reported by Ivanov’s support group in a telegram. The information was confirmed by lawyer Maria Eismont.
Ivanov’s associates write that the reason was the defendant’s refusal to hold out his hands for handcuffs during the lawyer’s dialogue with the judge about the next hearings. According to Eismont, her client asked the escort to let him listen to the conversation, but a court employee forcibly removed Ivanov from the courtroom.
The next day, Ivanov told Eismont that the escort turned off the video recorder after leaving the courtroom, pushed the defendant down the stairs, and then took him to the side of the toilet, tried to dip his head in the toilet, and then began to beat him.
According to Ivanov, the second employee of the court observed what was happening, but did not intervene.
The escort ended the beating after the appearance of the third officer of the court, a senior lieutenant, who said that it was time to end it.
Eismont assumed that Ivanov was beaten so as not to leave traces. The doctor at the pre-trial detention center noticed only small hematomas on his wrists.
Dmitry Ivanov is a student of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of Moscow State University and one of the creators of the Telegram channel “Protestny MSU”. On June 2 of last year, he was detained and sent to a pre-trial detention center in connection with the spread of knowingly false information about the actions of the Russian army. The investigation found fake reports about the killing of civilians and the destruction of the civil infrastructure of Ukraine and the refusal to call the war a “special operation”. Ivanov faces up to 10 years in prison.
