The author of the Telegram channel spoke about torture during detention

Ruslan Ushakov, the author of the Telegram channel “Nasatoyaschee prestuplenie”, who is accused of so-called fakes about the army, at the meeting of the Second Western District Military Court in his case, stated that he was tortured by electric current during detention. This is reported by “OVD-Info” with reference to the audience in the courtroom.

Ushakov is charged under four articles of the criminal code – in addition to “fakes”, it is rehabilitation of Nazism, justification of terrorism and incitement of hatred or enmity. The reason for the criminal prosecution was the now deleted messages in the chat of the telegram channel “Nastoyaschee prestuplenie”, which Ushakov conducted anonymously. In particular, they talked about the shelling of Mariupol and the killing of civilians in Ukraine, as well as calls for violence against President Vladimir Putin.

Ushakov told the court that during the detention, people in civilian clothes questioned him with a current in order to obtain incriminating statements. The judge dismissed the prosecutor’s question about whether he had any traces of torture and whether he had reported them before.

The day before, the court questioned the prosecution witness and Ushakov’s acquaintance, Anatoly Budkevich. He said that he had not seen any posts about the war in the channel’s chat, although he said the opposite during the investigation.

Ushakov was detained in December last year and sent to the SIZO, where he is still. At the end of May, his case was transferred to the court.
