The Murom city prosecutor’s office did not find a violation in the family of eight-year-old Veronika Borzhova, who showed a gesture on the air of the First Channel, recognized in the world as a signal for help and a request for protection from domestic violence. This was reported by the publication “Takiye dela” with reference to the girl’s father, Karen Tunyan.

“There is no basis for the adoption of prosecutorial response measures,” says the department’s official response to Tianyan’s request.

On June 21, in the plot of the First Channel program “Contenders”, which was dedicated to a family from Murom, who did not share custody of their two young daughters after the divorce, eight-year-old Veronika Borzhova, answering the question whether she likes living with her mother, stretched out her hand, pressed her thumb to palms and bent the other four fingers. This gesture has become a commonly accepted signal for help in case of domestic violence during the coronavirus pandemic.

After the announcement, the girl’s mother said that the journalists asked to show the child’s gesture – in case she stood up during the interview.

Veronika Borzhova’s father still insists that his ex-wife has both a psychological and a physical impact on the children.
