Explosions were heard in Rostov-on-Don on Sunday morning. The governor of the Rostov region, Vasyl Golubev, reported that the “air defense system worked” in the city and “the air target was hit.”
Golubev originally wrote that there are no destroyed on earth. Later, however, he clarified in a telegram that “several fragments of a downed air target fell in the Pervomaysky district of Rostov, causing property damage.” No casualties were reported, there are also no details.
Flashes from the explosions were visible in the area of Teatralnaya Square. Eyewitnesses sent photos to the editorial office of Kavkaz.Realii.
What kind of aerial target is being discussed – it is not reported, the authorities of Rostov-on-Don also do not yet mention who may be responsible for the explosions over the center of the city.
- On the morning of October 29, a fire broke out at an oil refinery in Kuban. The suspected cause of the fire is a drone strike.
- Russian cities, especially those located close to the front, have been sometimes attacked by drones, presumably Ukrainian, in recent months. On October 19, it was reported that an air defense unit in the Rostov region destroyed an air target that was on the approach to the region.
- As a rule, Kiev does not comment on alleged airstrikes on the territory of Russia.
- At the beginning of May, major fires occurred at oil refining enterprises bordering Ukraine in the Krasnodar region and Rostov region after the drones arrived. Experts note that Ukraine has at its disposal modern unmanned aerial vehicles capable of penetrating deep into the country.
