The deficit of the Russian federal budget amounted to 3.4 trillion rubles by the end of April, according to the report of the Ministry of Finance. This is more than was planned for the end of 2023: the budget law provided for a deficit of 2.93 trillion rubles.
According to the Ministry of Finance, in the first four months of the current year, budget revenues decreased by 22% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, expenses increased by 26%. The ratio of income and expenses as of April is 7.7 and 11.2 trillion rubles, respectively.
The ministry’s report also notes that Russia’s oil and gas revenues are currently down by 52% compared to last year. This, in particular, is connected with the decrease in price quotations for Urals oil and the reduction of gas exports. The Ministry of Finance predicts that the situation with oil and gas revenues will change for the better in the coming months.
- This year, the Russian authorities classified a third of federal budget expenditures. It is known that by March 24, secret expenditures amounted to 2.4 trillion rubles. Analysts assume that this money went to the war against Ukraine.
