The Buryat activist was sentenced to three years in prison

In Ulan-Ude, the state prosecution invited 61-year-old Buryat activist Natalya Filonova to three years in prison in the case of using force against a police officer. This was reported by human rights activist Nadezhda Nyzovkina during her YouTube broadcast.

According to Nizovkina, the period of mobilization can be an aggravating circumstance when making a decision in favor of actual deprivation of liberty.

Filonova did not admit her guilt. The adopted son of the activist, Vladimir Alalykin, wrote in the comments during Nizovkina’s broadcast: “Mom’s freedom.”

The Oktyabrsky district court of Ulan-Ude will announce the sentence to Natalya Filonova on August 31 at 4:00 p.m. local time.

• A criminal case against the activist was initiated at the end of October 2022. She was accused of assaulting police officers, one of whom she allegedly broke a finger during detention at a rally against mobilization.
• Filonova was placed in a pre-trial detention center on November 17 for violating the rules of house arrest. As a sign of protest, she announced a hunger strike. Her husband, who lives in another village, went to the hospital with a heart attack, because of which her adopted son, who was staying with his father at the time, was left alone. A minor was sent to an orphanage.
• In March 2023, an employee of the orphanage did not let Filonova’s adopted son go to the court hearing to his mother, and he himself reported on the pressure inside the orphanage.
