In the evening on Saturday, St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airport was temporarily closed for the reception and departure of planes – the so-called “Carpet” plan was introduced “to ensure the safety of flights of civil courts”. According to Russian authorities, a drone was shot down over the Gulf of Finland.

As “Fontanka” writes, residents of the city of Lomonosov (part of St. Petersburg) complained en masse on Saturday evening in local pubs about loud noises and explosions in the area of ​​Port Bronka. One of the residents wrote that “some rocket broke into 5 pieces.” In the villages of Dubochka and Lebyazhye, located not far from the Gulf of Finland, according to eyewitnesses, “houses shook and windows rang.” There was also a roar in the sky.

Subsequently, the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, wrote in a telegram that “air targets” were shot down by anti-aircraft missiles over the Gulf of Finland and published a video of the destruction of an object in the sky, which he later replaced with a screenshot. As “Baza” notes, the video was without blur and it clearly showed the flight trajectory of the anti-missile and the terrain.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia later reported that air defense equipment “destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of the Leningrad region.” It is not reported whether there was any damage to objects on the ground.

On Saturday night, presumably due to the fall of a drone, an explosion occurred in a residential building in the north of St. Petersburg. Alexander Beglov, the governor of St. Petersburg, reported on the “incident”. “There are no victims. The glazing of the balconies of two houses was partially damaged. Residents of the affected apartments have been evacuated,” Beglov wrote. He did not specify the reason for the “incident”.

According to the city health committee, six people sought medical help, one woman was hospitalized.

According to Telegram channels, the target of the drone could be the Ruchy oil base located nearby.

At the moment, the Russian authorities have not directly accused Ukraine of attempting to attack objects in St. Petersburg. Previously, a number of objects in the city and its surroundings had already been hit by drones, in some cases, as reported, they were shot down. There were no victims. The Ukrainian military does not officially comment on reports of alleged drone strikes on objects on the territory of Russia, but sources in the Ukrainian security forces confirm that such strikes have taken place.
