The co-founder of “Yandex” Volozh does not mention Russia in his biography

Arkady Volozh, the co-founder of the largest Russian IT company “Yandex”, in his biography published on his personal website, called himself “an Israeli entrepreneur born in Kazakhstan” and never once mentioned that he lived and did business in Russia for a long time. Social media users drew attention to this. As “Agentstvo” writes, the mention of Russia is also being tried to be deleted from the English-language version of Volozh’s biography in Wikipedia – the so-called editing war began the day before and continues on Monday.

“Arkady Volozh is an Israeli technical entrepreneur, computer scientist, investor and philanthropist born in Kazakhstan… Since 2015, Volozh has been living in Israel, mainly engaged in the development and study of new technologies,” says the biography published on the Volozh.com website .

Volozh was born in Guryev, Kazakh SSR (now Atyrau, Kazakhstan). He lived in Moscow since the 1980s, in 1997 he became one of the co-founders of the Yandex company. Back in 2017, in connection with the 20th anniversary of “Yandex”, he met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. He left all posts at “Yandex” only in 2022, after he was included in the sanctions list in connection with Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. On December 30, 2022, Volozh announced his final departure from the company to the employees. He did not speak publicly about the war in Ukraine.
