The court in Salekhard will consider the mourning of Lyudmila Navalny over the refusal to extradite the body of her son Alexei Navalny behind closed doors.
“The complaint was filed for illegal actions, decisions,” TASS said in court, responding to a question about Navalny’s lawsuit. The mourning hearing is scheduled for March 4.
Earlier, Navalny’s associate Ivan Zhdanov reported that Lyudmila Navalnaya had filed a lawsuit against the Russian Investigative Committee for the extradition of her son’s body. Also yesterday, she appealed to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, with a request to give her a body for the funeral.
The Investigative Committee refuses to release Navalny’s body, referring to the investigation into the circumstances of his death. Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh previously reported that the inspection was extended for at least two weeks (until March 3).
According to the FSIN, opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who was in the “Polar Wolf” special regime colony, died on the afternoon of February 16 “after a walk.” A few days before his death, he was sent to the SHIZO for the 27th time with even harsher conditions of detention than in ordinary cells. Supporters of the politician believe that he was killed. Navalny’s body has not yet been released or shown to his relatives. The politician’s wife Yulia promised to continue her husband’s work.
