The contractor from Sochi received a conditional term for re-shipping to the front

The contractor from Sochi received a conditional term for re-shipping to the front

The Sochi Garrison Military Court found contract worker Astemir Jappuev guilty of arbitrarily abandoning a unit in the conditions of mobilization and sentenced him to two years of conditional imprisonment.

According to the investigation, from March to August last year, Jappuev participated in the war against Ukraine and was wounded. Returning to the unit, he passed the military medical commission, which sent him to the hospital. After the examination, Dzhuppaev did not return to the unit on October 26, but left for his family. He returned to the place of deployment of the unit only on November 7.

Jappuev admitted his guilt and repented of what he had done. The court also took into account that the contractor wants to participate in a special military operation (this is how the war against Ukraine is officially called in Russia).

The court refused to set a real term for the contractor, referring to the appeal of the command about the need to send Jappuev to the war.

  • The Rostov region took the fourth place in the country in terms of the number of cases against servicemen under criminal articles tightened during mobilization. We are talking about arbitrarily abandoning a unit and not complying with the commander’s order “during the period of mobilization… in the conditions of an armed conflict” – these additions with more severe punishment were included in the Criminal Code at the end of September last year.
  • The Stavropol Garrison Military Court has been declassifying decisions on administrative cases since mid-January, including regarding participants in the war against Ukraine, citing the protection of the state’s security. Other garrison courts of the Southern Military District, including those operating in the Stavropol Territory, do not hide the texts of judicial acts. The press service of the court refused to say over the phone what this is about.
  • In February, Kavkaz.Realii reported that at least seven cases of involuntary abandonment in wartime conditions had been submitted to the garrison courts of the South of Russia and the North Caucasus – the relevant part of the article was introduced into the Criminal Code in September.
