The contractor from the Murmansk region was sentenced to two years

A court in the Murmansk Region sentenced contract serviceman Alexander N. to two years in a settlement colony for refusing to participate in hostilities. This is reported by the human rights project “Military Lawyers”.

The serviceman signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense in 2021 and served in the Murmansk Region. He was the commander of an anti-tank platoon.

The investigation believes that in February and May 2023, the convict twice refused to comply with the order and will go to the war zone. A criminal case was opened against him for failure to comply with an order during mobilization.

According to the officer, in August 2022 he was dismissed early from the service due to his refusal to participate in military operations, but some time after the announcement of mobilization, the Ministry of Defense canceled the order as unimplemented, and he continued his service. The serviceman admitted his guilt, and explained his refusal to fight by the fact that the health of his loved ones had worsened.

In July, the same court sentenced another officer to two years in a settlement colony under the same article.
