The court in St. Petersburg decided to send activist Victoria Petrova to compulsory treatment in the case of military “fakes”. This is reported by RusNews.

The outside hearing on the case was held in the city psychiatric hospital, where Petrova has been staying since the end of November.

The court ruling states that the activist will stay in the hospital for at least six months, after which the doctors will decide whether her “additional treatment” is required.

Petrova herself considers herself sane and, according to the lawyer Anastasia Pylypenko, would prefer a real term in the colony, since in that case it would be clear to her when she will be released.

On December 21, Petrova spoke her last words, calling for an end to the war in Ukraine, the decriminalization of articles on military censorship, and the release of political prisoners.

28-year-old Victoria Petrova was detained in May 2022 on charges of spreading “fakes” about the Russian army and its actions in Ukraine. The post, attributed to the activist, criticized the war in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his associates, and spoke of human losses on both sides. Nine videos were attached to the post: the YouTube channel of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, politician Alexey Arestovych, journalist Dmytro Gordon and others.

At the trial, Viktoria Petrova emphasized that she had no animosity towards the Russian military. “On the contrary, I tried to save them, appealed to the authorities and appealed not to send them there… I wanted to save their lives,” she said.
